Dimapur, May 1: Nagaland Governor RN Ravi has extended Moatsü greetings to the Ao community and the people of Nagaland and wished all good health, peace and happy celebrations.
Moatsü is celebrated after seeds are sown in the fields. The festival provides a period of recreation after the stressful activities of clearing fields, burning jungles, sowing seeds, cleaning up the wells and repair and construction of houses, said Ravi.
The villagers celebrate their friendship for each other by exchanging gifts, making new friends, feasting, bonfire etc thereby reinforcing the strong community bonding through this festival. It is also an occasion for the youth to get connected with their community roots and carry on the centuries old traditional legacy, he said.
While celebrating the festival, the Governor urged all to observe COVID-19 protocols. (Page News Service)
