Governor exhorts IRCSN members

Dimapur, June 20: Nagaland Governor, PB Acharya today interacted with members of the Indian Red Cross Society, Nagaland State Branch (IRCSN) at the Red Cross Building, Kohima. He said that the Red Cross is a great humanitarian movement and was very proud of the IRCSB for continuously working towards the motto of the Red Cross Society.
The Governor called on the members to be sincere towards the job and to continue working for the people. He encouraged the members to work on modalities on how to strengthen the society in various field including education and health sector. Unless the poorest of the poor is strengthen the society will not move forward, he added. He advised the society to conduct medical camps in the interior parts of the State for the benefit of the people.
Acharya stated that the President of India has urged the Governors to convene meetings with various NGO’s including the Red Cross Society from time to time and to inspire them towards social responsibilities. He called on the IRCSN to review and find new methods to reach to the people for development. The dormant or hidden energy of IRCSN should be utilized to reach out to the people especially those living in the remote areas, he added.
The Governor also said that the IRCSN should not depend on the Government for revenue. He called on the members to increase the membership and to-let out the property to increase their revenue. We have to see that the revenue increases to carry out the works but should not depend on the Government always, he stated.
To strengthen the health system, the Governor suggested IRCSN to sponsor students from Government schools in nursing or medical courses with the condition that once they complete their studies they come back to the State and work for the people. Care and share should be agenda for IRCSN, he added.
