Dimapur, December 5: Nagaland Governor PB Acharya and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has greeted the Home Guards & Civil Defence Nagaland on its ‘Raising Day’ on December 6.
In a message, the Governor said the Home Guards & Civil Defence personnel serve as auxiliary support to the police and civil administration and help in maintaining law & order as also in coping with disasters like fire, floods, epidemics etc. He expressed confidence that they will continue to work with the same zeal keeping service before self in serving the society and the nation.
The Governor also called upon the Civil Defence and Home Guards personnel to remain committed to the cause and to give their best to the people, state and the country.
In a separate message, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said over the years the role and responsibilities of Home Guards’ and Civil Defence have grown hugely. “Today, in addition to its primary role as a reserve force, it forms part of the dedicated State Disaster Response Force and is one of the first response teams in attending to natural and manmade calamities and other emergencies.”
Rio also called upon the officers and all ranks of Home Guards’ and Civil Defence, Nagaland to continue to uphold the proud tradition of service to humanity. (Page News Service)
