Kohima, August 25: The Gorkha Public Panchayat, Kohima (GPPK) along with other Gorkha NGOs and Gorkha defence ex-servicemen observed Balidan Diwas (Martyrs’ Day) in memory of Saheed Major Durga Malla and Saheed Capt. Neikezhakuo Kenguruse and other martyrs at Gorkha Public Panchayat Hall, Chandmari, Kohima on Tuesday evening.
All the advisors of the GPPK and Gaon Bura Kamal Bahadur Chettri as the special invitees during the observation led the gathering by lighting of lamps along with GPPK president Santu Thapa.
The leaders of various Gorkha organizations in the State capital including the GB and ex-servicemen also paid rich floral tribute for the supreme sacrifice made by the gallant heroes at their portrait.
Significance of the day was shared by President of Indreni Club Prem Kumar Thapa and message was delivered by GPPK president Santu Thapa while the programme was marked with patriotic songs.
The observation had minimal attendance in consonance with the SOPs of the COVID-19 pandemic while other members of the community within and outside the state joined the programme virtually through Google Connect. (Page News Service)
