The two days GLOCAL Hornbill International Film Festival 2018 began Saturday at Bamboo Hall, Kisama. The Eastern Art Council is presenting the event with the support of IPR, Tourism, the Portrait Studio, Broadcast Media & Graphics and Miracle Post, Myanmar.
The GLOCAL International Film Festival is screening short films from America, Latvia, Myanmar, Nagaland and other north eastern states. In addition to screening of short films, animations and documentaries, Workshops and Seminars have also been included as part of the GLOCAL film festival.
Commissioner & Secretary, IPR, V. Maria Yanthan while speaking at the inaugural event thanked Heather Layton from USA and Wunna Kyaw from Myanmar for coming to Nagaland on the occasion with their movies. She thanked all the tourists and said that the lovely movies to be screened in the Glocal film festival were chosen for them. She mentioned that the Department of Information & Public Relations is the nodal department for all films making related matters. As such, she asked the film makers from outside to liaise with the Department for films related matters in the days to come.
She also expressed her gratitude to the Director of IPR and his subordinate officers and staff for their contributions and support of this initiative.
On the first day, short films and animations from Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Myanmar were screened.
