GHS, Phangsang holds annual fest

Phangsang (Mokokchung), November 11: As a culmination of a fruitful academic year, Government High School, Phangsang organized a three-day annual fest from November 4 – 7 which saw events like sports, literary and cultural activities where the students actively participated and showcased their talents.
During the annual fest, the students participated in different sports activities like volleyball, athletics etc. At the literary and cultural programme, the students presented Hindi poem recitation, cultural dance and folk song presentation etc.
Senior-most teacher at the school, Hindi teacher Moangtemjen, while speaking at the programme, encouraged the students to focus on their studies and dream big so that they can one day serve the community in their field. He said that education is the best tool to bring a change in one’s life and also in the community. He urged the students not to neglect their studies but strive hard so that they can become agents of change in the society.
He also urged the parents present at the programme to understand their children and take utmost care at some so that the students would become men and women of character as they grow up.
Meanwhile, the ‘head in-charge’ of the school, Kikumsungba also spoke at the programme. The programme was conducted by assistant teacher Wapangienla while assistant teacher Imlitemsu invoked God’s blessing.
It may be noted here that Government High School, Phangsang is one of the most important government high schools under Chuchuyimlang EAC circle which caters to the educational needs of five villages namely – Yaongyimti Old, Yaongyimti New, Chakpa and Longkong villages. The head teacher of the school was transferred in October, 2019 and the replacement is yet to be deputed at the school. The three day annual fest was conducted as part of the NBSE curriculum and it is a prelude to the final examinations which will be conducted from November 15, 2019.
