Dimapur, March 10: Governor of Nagaland PB Acharya has appealed to the people of Nagaland to reflect on how to make Naga society more just and equitable for women and to celebrate the women who have achieved extraordinary things.
The Governor also called on the people to remind one self that empowerment of women and equality; liberty and dignity are sacred rights of women. He said gender equality is the need of the hour.
“Women are gift of God,” he said in a delayed message on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
The Governor also appealed to the people of Nagaland to make ‘Beti Bachhao, Beti Padhao’ movement a success by adopting at least one school going girl child by contributing Rs 3000 in account number 35843617072, SBI, Kohima Main Branch, in favour Beti Bachhao, Beti Padhao Scheme. The Governor further instructed the newly formed Government to provide women vegetable vendor’s clean and secured kiosks at a nominal rate.
Stating that International Women’s Day is an opportunity to highlight the progress that has been made towards achieving gender equality, the Governor conveyed appreciation to all women who are the backbone of the society.
