Dimapur, February 3: Chief of Army Staff, General Bipin Rawat, arrived in Kohima today, where he was received by Major General PC Nair, IG Assam Rifles (North).
During the visit General Bipin Rawat reviewed the security situation in Nagaland and also along the Indo- Myanmar border. The Army Chief was briefed by Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) on the overall security situation in Nagaland.
General Bipin Rawat was accompanied by Lieutenant General MM Naravane, General Officer Commanding – in – Chief, Eastern Command and Lieutenant General Rajeev Sirohi, General Officer Commanding, Spear Corps.
General Bipin Rawat expressed his satisfaction on the commitment and preparedness of Assam Rifles in maintaining peace and tranquility in the state.
He complimented the troops for their sustained hard work, professionalism and devotion to duty in conduct of people friendly operations in difficult operational conditions.
The Army Chief is scheduled to visit Itanagar.
