GBs are essential component of State Govt: Governor

Dimapur, November 21: Nagaland Governor PB Acharya has appreciated the efforts of GBs in Nagaland in working towards creating a peaceful atmosphere and contributing towards nation building.
Speaking at a meeting with the offices bearers of the Nagaland GB Federation at Raj Bhavan, Kohima on Wednesday, the Governor stated that the GBs have been playing a vital role in the governance of the State and is an essential component of the State Government.
Acharya stated that GBs are the main people to build their villages and called on the members to be agents in informing the targeted people of the various Central and State Government welfare schemes and programmes. This will bring development and progress to the society, he said.
The Governor encouraged the federation to continue their tireless work in creating a peaceful atmosphere in the State. He opined that peace was the need of the hour in the State.
The Governor also stated that the peace process was moving in the right direction and hoped that a settlement will be reached at the earliest.
The Nagaland GB Federation called on the Governor and submitted a memorandum requesting Governor to appeal the Government of India to officially invite the NSCN-GPRN led by Khango Konyak for peace talk at the earliest. The GB federation was led by president, Shahlem Konyak.
The Governor also expressed his appreciation towards the Naga Mothers Association for their role in promoting peace and harmony in the State.
