The first case of Covid19 in Nagaland unfortunately happened to be a patient from Zion Hospital. On April 12 around 1:30 am the hospital gate was locked by the authorities and no one was allowed to come in or go out. The locked in staffs had to wait for 14-15 hours without proper food and water until finally they were shifted to quarantine centres and samples taken for testing of Covid19. What we observed was that hardly any public leaders, NGOs, Church organizations etc.visited the gate of sorrow(except the district administration and police in their official duty).
At present, there are around 70 employees taking shelter in the hospital. The simple fact is that their landlords or their colony members do not want them back. For the next 2 weeks, the hospital will be providing for their needs.Lock down the hospital with no help to see to the needs of the affected – is this the reward for serving the Nagas for the past 15 years? Unfortunately because of one Covid19 patient all our efforts and sacrifices are forgotten.
This is the real picture of our Christian belief. The Bible says in the last days people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderers, without self control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God – having a form of godliness but denying its power. This prophesy is being fulfilled by us at this very moment. Jesus rightly said, heaven and earth shall pass away but my words shall not pass away.
For Jesus also said, unless your righteousness surpasses that of the pharasees, you will not enter the Kingdom of God. Indeed prayers, fasting, singing etc are happening i.e. quantity of righteousness but not the quality of righteousness that God desires.
And now these three remain: Faith, Hope and Love. But the greatest of these is love. If we have the hope, let’s us all practice our faith by extending our love through the eyes of the Holy spirit. If you have true concern for us, take your phone and reach out to all leaders of villages, tribes, officers, politicians etc. to stop the harassment meted to us for no fault of ours. Covid19 is a pandemic disease and we are also helpless as you all are. Your prayers and concern are really appreciated but we need your actions at this very moment. May the Lord bless us all through Zion.
