Friends of 80+ honours 167 octogenarian


Kohima, April 30: The Friends of 80 plus under Kohima village today observed 13th foundation day by honouring 167 octogenarian of the village at its Council Hall.
Kohima village presently has 58 male and 109 female aged above 80 years old.
Addressing the gathering as special guest, president of Tenyimia People’s Organisation, Timikha Koza said Naga tradition and culture bestows enormous value and honour to elders and the aged. He said that presence of the elders and aged is a blessing to the lives of the people of the community.
Lamenting that with the change of times, the imbibed practices of honouring and valuing the aged is fading away, Koza lauded the efforts of the Friends of 80 plus in continuing to acknowledge the presence of the elders.
Marking the occasion, village elder Visakuolie Suokhrie pronounced blessing for all while the elderly people were also honored with special gifts while also conducting free medical check-up for them.
Chaired by Vitsu Yhome the programme commenced with Catechist of Christ King Church, Ruokuovituo Robert pronouncing invocation.
Report for 2017-18 was presented by Vilakuolie Mere while special song were presented by Thenumezhüü Suokhrie and ode to all Great Grand Parents by Lhouvisano Solo.
