Dimapur, February 26: Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has strongly objected to granting of bail to one Jaim Philip Thomas, Headmaster of ‘Around Saramati School’, Pungro, Kiphire in connection with Kohima PS Case No. 0015/2019 under Sec 420/2019 IPC.
According to a press release issued by legal advisor, NBCC, Kezhokhoto Savi and general secretary, Rev Dr Zelhou Keyho, Jiam Philip, who hails from Keral had cheated the NBCC and the people in and around Pungro while running a private school named, ‘Around Saramati School’.
The NBCC said in 2018, the accused person took text book amounting to Rs 3,75,100 through NBCC and did not make the payments despite several assurances to NBCC.
In 2019, the accused person ordered text books amounting to more than Rs 5 lakhs and did not receive the said ordered text books making liability to NBCC where NBCC had to pay penalty and transportation charges in returning the text books to several companies in New Delhi. Without clearing the liabilities, the accused ran away from Nagaland and disconnected all his contact number, the NBCC alleged.
The NBCC, therefore, lodged an FIR against Jiam Philip Thomas and after obtaining warrant of arrest few local police from Nagaland went to arrest him in UP at the expense of NBCC. He was arrested from UP and brought to Kohima on February 16, 2020.
The NBCC said he had created a liability of more than Rs 7 lakh and now he was trying to escape by moving a bail application.
The legal advisor NBCC Kezhokhoto Savi, advocate said that if at all bail is to be granted in favour of the accused person at this stage, the accused person would go on bail at his own risk.
The NBCC prayed to Court not to grant bail at this stage for the interest of justice. (Page News Service)
