Kohima, August 6: The fourth session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) commenced today with Speaker Vikho-o Yhoshü welcoming the members of the House.
Chief Minister and Leader of the House, Neiphiu Rio made obituary reference to the passing away of former Union Defense Minister and Chief Minister of Goa, Manohar Parrikar and Speaker of Meghalaya Assembly, Dr Donkupar Roy.
The Speaker extended condolences over the demise of former deputy speaker and former minister of Nagaland, Rokonicha.
As the House observed two minute silence in honour of the departed souls, Yhoshü informed that the grief and sorrow expressed by the members would be conveyed to the respective families by the Assembly Secretariat.
Assembly secretary K Sekhsoe reported the assent of the Governor of Nagaland to four bills – The Nagaland Nursing Council Bill, 2019, The Nagaland Appropriation (No. 1) Bill, 2019, The Nagaland Appropriation (No. 2) Bill, 2019 and The Nagaland Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill, 2019 which were passed during the budget session of the Assembly held in February this year.
Speaker Yhoshu informed that consideration and passing of the bills will be taken up on Thursday and that the members can submit amendments, if any, to the bills till 2PM on tomorrow.
CM Rio also laid the Nagaland Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Rules, 2017 while Minister for Health & Family Welfare, S Pangyu Phom and Minister for Soil and Water Conservation, V Kashiho Sangtam also tabled the Pharmacy Practice Regulation 2015 and annual report 2015-16 of the Nagaland State Mineral Development Corporation Limited.
Annual administrative reports for 2018-19 for the departments of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Justice & Law, and Soil & Water Conservation were tabled by Chief Minister Rio, Minister C M Chang and Minister Kashiho Sangtam.
Chairman of the Committee on government assurances, Dr Chotisuh Sazo presented a copy of the 95th report of the committee. (Page News Service)
