Former Minister Vejoi Vero passes away

DIMAPUR, JULY 22: Former Minister, Vejoi Vero passed away today at a private hospital in Kohima. He was 75 and is survived by his wife, 6 children and 3 grandchildren.
Born in 1947 at Chiepoketami village in Phek District, late Vero graduated from St. Edmunds’ College, Shillong, and completed his LLB from Bombay University in 1976.
In 1976, he was elected to the 4th Nagaland Legislative Assembly from 19-Phek Assembly Constituency, and re-elected in 1982 and 1987 from the same constituency.
CM condoles
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has expressed grief at the demise of Vejoi Vero, ex-Minister, on July 22 at Kohima.
“He was known as an upright man and a righteous leader. He was a fine gentleman and a man of conviction who always worked tirelessly for the welfare of the people. …He will be sorely missed by one and all”, he said in a condolence message.
The CM conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
NLA: Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker, Sharingain Longkumer has
also expressed grief at the demise of former Minister, V Vero today.
“In his death, our State, especially the people of Chakhesang community, has lost a very committed leader who always worked for the betterment of the poor and the downtrodden sections of the society. His contributions shall always be recognized and remembered”, he said.
The Speaker, on behalf of the members of the 13th NLA, expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
NPCC: NPCC president K Therie has also expressed pain at the passing away of Vejoyi Vero, former Minister.
“Late Vejoyi Vero was a peaceful hearted man who stood upright in all circumstances. He not only upheld but endeavoured for justice and equality whenever the need arose. His contributions to the upliftment of society will be long remembered”, he said. Therie offered deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for his to soul to rest in peace.
PDBA: The Phek District Bar Association (PDBA) has expressed sorrow at the passing away of former Minister and lawmaker, Vejoi Vero on July 22 at Kohima after protracted illness.
In a condolence message, PDBA said late Vero was kind-hearted person with great humility who had sacrificed his best service for the welfare of the people.
Stating that Nagas have lost a prominent political leader in Phek district in particular and Nagaland as a whole, the PDBA conveyed its deepest condolences to all near and dear ones of the bereaved family.
