Governor, CM, NLA Speaker condole

Dimapur, April 17: Former Minister Rokonicha passed away today after a prolonged illness at his residence in Medziphema. He was 73 and is survived by three daughters, three sons and host of grand children.
Born in 1944, late Rokonicha before entering active politics served in various capacities as president of Chakhroma Students’ Conference (1967-69), joint secretary, Angami Public Organization (1973) and as Assistant Teacher, GHS Kohima (1970-73).
Late Rokonicha served as MLA for six terms from 1974 to 2008. He contested from 5-Ghaspani-II A/C in 1974 from UDF party and subsequently elected as Deputy Speaker on 17-03-75. He also served as Minister of State for Local Self Government & Wasteland Development after being elected to the 9th Assembly in 1998.
Governor: Nagaland Governor PB Acharya has expressed grief at the demise of Rokonicha, former Minister of Nagaland on April 17.
In a condolence message, the Governor stated that in the demise of Rokonicha, the people of Nagaland have lost a tall leader and a great human being who will be remembered fondly by all.
The Governor conveyed heartfelt condolences to members of the bereaved family and prayed to Almighty God to grant strength and solace to bear the irreparable loss.
CM: Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has expressed shock and pain at the demise of Rokonicha, former Minister who passed away at his residence in Medziphema today.
“I had the privilege of working with late Rokonicha in the Government. Besides being a colleague, he was an elder brother to me. His gentle demeanour, good nature, simplicity and humility were his greatest attributesm” he said.
In his demise, we have lost a kind soul, an amiable person and a veteran leader whose absence will be deeply felt, the CM said.
Rio conveyed deepest condolences to all the loved ones of the bereaved family, and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
NLA Speaker: Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Vikho-o Yhoshu has also expressed grief at the untimely demise of Rokonicha, former MLA today at his residence in Medziphema.
“I knew him to be a humble and dynamic leader who worked diligently for the welfare and upliftment of his constituency and for the people of Nagaland,” he said.
The Speaker on his behalf and on behalf of the members of 13th NLA conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed to Almighty God to grant them solace and comfort at this hour of grief.
TR Zeliang: Opposition leader TR Zeliang has expressed grief at the demise of Rokonicha Kuotsu at his Medziphema residence after a prolonged illness.
“His untimely demise today is a great loss to the Naga people,” he said.
Zeliang extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
LS MP: Lok Sabha MP, Tokheho Yepthomi has expressed grief at the demise of former MLA, Rokonicha.
He said the contributions made by late Rokonicha for the welfare of Naga people as member of
Nagaland Legislative Assembly will be remembered for times to come.
Stating that his demise has created a vacuum in Naga society, Tokheho conveyed condolences to members of the bereaved family and also prayed that almighty God give courage to the family members to overcome this hour of grief.
NDPP: The NDPP has expressed grief at the demise of veteran Naga politician Rokonicha Kuotsu this morning at his residence at Medziphema.
“Soft spoken and genial, he was very approachable which made him a very popular personality both in politics and society. He was also the epitome of a loving husband and a caring father: His children are all polite and well-mannered making the numerous guests and visitors to their home feel very comfortable – he was one who taught his children well,” said NDPP president Chingwang Konyak.
“In his passing away, the Nagas in general, and the Tenyimia group of Nagas in particular, have lost a towering leader,” he said.
Chingwang on behalf of the rank and file of NDPP conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
MTYO & MTMK: The Medziphema Town Youth Organization (MTYO) and Medziphema Town Mechü Krotho (MTMK) have also conveyed deepest condolences at the demise of Rokonicha Kuotsu today.
“He was one senior most public leader who exemplified true Christian belief throughout his life and had tirelessly worked to uplift the people of Medziphema region,” they said in a joint condolence message.
NDPP Ghy-II: The NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II A/C expressed has expressed grief at the sudden demise of Rokonicha Kuotsu.
“His unmatched dedication and zeal to work for the welfare of the people define his social leadership capability and his demise has left a void in our midst but we also pray that God grant solace to the bereaved family to continue with his legacy” it said in a condolence message.
