Food safety awareness campaign conducted


Dimapur, September 28: As part of Poshan Maah, Food Safety on Wheels and Food Safety Team, along with State Program Officer (Food Safety) Dr Akuo Sorhie and Dr Obajungla, Deputy Director, conducted intensified awareness campaign in regard to safe food, creating awareness and educating food vendors, school children and general public. The areas covered during the campaign were Lerie Colony, AG Colony, Lower Chandmari, Razhii Point and High School Junction.
The following activities were carried out during the awareness campaign: water samples were collected from a ring well at upper Lerie colony which was catering to the nearby locality and from a bored well at St. Mary Cathedral Higher Secondary School; awareness on safe and nutritious food was highlighted to the students of St. Mary Cathedral Higher Secondary School by Khrukutolu Veswuh, Food Analyst, and awareness on hygiene and safe food, like the danger of wrapping food items with news paper etc was highlighted to the street food vendors; testing of formalin in fresh fish was carried out at Razhii point.
Suspected samples of dry fish, vegetables, chilly powder and fruits was also collected at High School area for testing. (Page News Service)
