FM Tragopan relay centre commissioned at Wokha

Dimapur, March 12: FM 101.8 Mega Hertz Radio Relay Station was commissioned today by Dr. Man A Zir Jeelani Samoon (IAS), Deputy Commissioner, Wokha at ‘O’ Point Wokha Village, Wokha as guest of honour.
The DC, while speaking at the simple ceremony, said that commissioning of relay centre, Wokha is another progress for the district, now the people of Wokha and its adjoining areas would be benefitted through this FM installation.
He further said through radio the news can be disseminated easily to the remote areas, people can listen radio even no power supply, it also plays a great role by educating the farmers (Kissan) about government schemes and policies.
He therefore, called upon the public to co-operate the broadcasting organization in making their services efficiently in the region. He hoped that in near future the relay centre would expand which will benefit the educated youth through employment generation, recording of local folklore and songs and stories.
Further, he declared open the relay centre by cutting the ribbon and switch on the button at the transmission terminal.
KV Ramachandran, Dy. Director General (Engineering), Head of Office (HoO), All India Radio, Kohima in his short speech, highlighted that earlier Phek relay station was inaugurated of which Wokha is the second. All India Radio (AIR) extend its services since 1963, which is a span of fifty four years disseminating news and entertainment through local programme, dialect and FM service towards the state is commendable and proud news for all India Radio fraternity. Now, the people of Wokha will enjoy listening clear news and songs through this relay centre of which he assured to extend longer duration/timing as and when more technician/engineer were posted.
Mhao Humtsoe, Chairman Lotha Hoho in his speech thanked the AIR officials for making the project a success in the district. Today’s commissioning of the relay centre in Wokha will immeasurably benefit the public and the listeners of the channel, he said and assured to extend its fullest support in making the relay centre to excel in providing service to the people.
He also appealed the authority’s concern to introduce every possible section viz. programme executive, news section, recording facilities in addition to engineering wing.
Er. Mhodamo Ovung, General Secretary Lotha Hoho read out a memorandum addressed to the Minister In-charge, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Delhi, which is to be submitted through the Dy. Director General (Engg.), AIR, Kohima.
Earlier, Rev. Nyanchumo Lotha, Executive Secretary LBCA Wokha invocate the program, chaired by Jonas Yanthan , News Reader, AIR, Kohima.
Er. Matsang Ao, Wokha FM Tragopan Relay Centre incharge said, the station would switch on everyday from 3 p.m. till 9:30 pm, recorded local dialects news and songs will be transmitted from time to time, and Lotha dialect from 6:10 pm daily from this channel, he added.
Members from Lotha Hoho, Wokha district entrepreneur association, SIB, church representative and women’s attended the commissioning programme.
