DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 25: A devastating fire gutted around 50 houses and rendered as many families in Masters Colony, Nagarjan, Dimapur, Saturday evening.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire started around 7.10 p.m. at Masters Colony and spread rapidly to nearby houses, mostly made of bamboo. Multiple cylinders also exploded in the inferno.
It took more than an hour for the Fire Department personnel to bring the fire under control.
Fire Tenders from Dimapur Central and West Fire Stations and Chumukedima Fire Station were pressed into action to combat the fire.
Till the time of filing the report, the exact number of houses affected in the fire could not be estimated as the Fire personnel were still engaged in fire fighting. However, eyewitnesses accounted for around 50 houses.
No reports of any casualties or injury were reported at the time of going to print. The exact cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained
