Festive cheer marks Longleng Town’s carol singing competition

Dimapur, December 16: Longleng Town was adorned in vibrant hues on December 14 as thousands of residents donned colourful attire to partake in a spirited carol singing competition, heralding the Christmas season. The event, orchestrated by the Longleng Town Council under the guidance of ADC Longleng, Alongdhimen Jamir, and Administrator of the Longleng Town Council, aimed to cultivate a sense of community and celebrate the true spirit of Christmas, fostering unity and solidarity.
In his welcoming address, ADC Alongdhimen Jamir emphasised the vision to promote community spirit and underscored the importance of participation over winning. The event’s special guest, Dharam Raj, DC Longleng, extended seasonal greetings and emphasized the significance of community involvement, commending all participants for showcasing their musical talents on this joyous occasion.
A total of 14 carol groups from various wards and churches participated in the competition. The Medical Ward secured the 1st position, with a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 along with a citation. Shauli Ward and Police Church, Longleng, secured the 2nd and 3rd positions, earning cash prizes of Rs. 7,000 and Rs. 5,000 respectively, each accompanied by a citation. The consolation cash prize of Rs. 2,000 each for the remaining participants was sponsored by SP Longleng, Yanger Jamir.
