Dimapur, July 2: A training on managing and controlling fire was conducted by Fire and Emergency Services Noklak HQ at SP Office Noklak.
OC fire Services Thenousielie Pielie gave training on managing gas cylinders if they are inside homes when burnt, how to switch off regulators ,electrical short circuit fires, use of fire extinguishers, helping victims to reach safe places with help of locally made stretchers or cloth or by joining hand to hand techniques of firefighters, use of sand buckets near electrical appliances etc.
SP Noklak Dr. Pritpal kaur IPS urged all to ensure one’s own safety first before helping others and cover wet cloth on body when in fire emergency.
A release from F&ES Noklak informed that recently a fire broke out at Pangsha (Noklak) where two houses were burnt including gas cylinder. Fire smoke was visible from SP Office as it was on a mountain but it was 2.5 hours away by road. Assam Rifle’s, villagers and police doused the fire.
“It’s difficult to reach places sometimes which are very far away villages on time therefore thought to train and teach everyone here to manage fire emergencies in initial basis before firefighters or police or Assam Rifle’s or other help reaches them,” the release said.
The training was attended by KTC president, KMH president, TRPO, mahila president, Village Guards, Dobashi, RHQ Noklak police and students union president, etc. Village level training will be given in coming months.
