Fearing COVID-19 test, citizens shun trip to health centre

DIMAPUR, JUNE 24: Fear of COVID-19 test is preventing many citizens of Noklak from seeking proper medical advice and treatment from its Community Health Centre, according to Doctors and staff of Noklak CHC.


A DIPR bulletin on Thursday reported that Doctors and staff of CHC, Noklak, have expressed concern that many people are reluctant to avail proper medical advice fearing COVID-19 test.
It stated that many are at home with ailments not related to COVID-19, without getting proper medical treatment.
The Medical staff have requested the Department of Information & Public Relations to disseminate through public announcement and other means, the difference between COVID-related health issues and other dangerous sickness such as Scrub typhus (which may lead to loss of consciousness or uncontrolled fever and even kidney failure),Typhoid (which may also lead to serious complications) and Hypertension (which may lead to lead to stroke) which are life threatening diseases, if not properly treated on time.
They expressed fear that some people may be dying of sicknesses which are treatable and curable, due to negligence.
