DIMAPUR, March 2: The Englan Cluster Level Federation comprising 67 SHGs under 8 VLOs promoted by Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) is a platform that creates a voice for the poor in the village and helps initiate development interventions for poverty reduction.
Englan Yingsung Federation (EYF) held its first annual general body meeting on the February 26 at Tourist Lodge, Old Riphyim. The program was followed by presentation of best VLO/SHG/CSP/VF/MBK within the cluster, a press release from the mission informed on Sunday.
Two representatives from EYF namely Thungalo Odyuo (Krishi Sakhi New Riphyim) and Nzanbeni Kithan (Yikhum) shared their success stories where they mentioned that after NRLM intervention, they could upscale their livelihood in both livestock and agriculture.
Thungalo Odyuo, the agri community service provider (CSP), shared on the importance of agri-nutrition garden that helped in meeting their family’s nutrition especially during the pandemic and therefore encouraged all the women SHGs to promote nutrition garden in their homes.
K Shekiho Phuleshe, Project Director of DRDA, Wokha, briefed on NRLM history and stated that sustenance of the CLF relies greatly on women and therefore encouraged them to upscale their income.
M Rollan Lotha, Chief Operation Officer (COO) NSRLM, highlighted that Englan CLF is one among the 3 CLFs taken up as a pilot model. He briefed the crowd on the scheme of PM-FME, importance of Producer Groups as an aggregation centre with zero energy cold storage.
He also briefed on promoting rain water harvesting structures for households with agri nutrition garden to help reduce the drudgery of women.
