Exhibition match in memory of Lt. Xavier Rutsa


Dimapur, August 14: An exhibition football match will be playing on August 18 at Kohima Local Ground (Khouchiezie) in memory of Lt.Xavier Rutsa for the first time between Kohima Town Club (KTC) and Kohima Press Club (KPC) at 12 noon with Abu Metha as special invitee organised by KTC.
Born on 23rd August 1976, Xavier Rutsa, son of Late Meguonyü Rutsa was laid to rest on 11th June 2018 at his ancestral land at New Market in the state capital. Xavier Rutsa, better known as Xavier among colleagues and friends was one among the senior most journalists in Nagaland and was writing for The Times of India (ToI) as its Nagaland correspondent.
Xavier played numerous roles over the decades in many organisations and also serving as the Media Officer of the Kohima Town Club (KTC) and was the founding member of the club and had been a torchbearer for the welfare of KTC rights from the time when Kohima Town Club was formed on December 1, 2016 under the motto, “For the Community”. The club officially launched the Kohima Football League (KFL) in the year 2017. The exhibition match in memory of Lt.Xavier Rutsa will be played in the ongoing 2nd edition of KFL 2018.
He was also serving as the president of the Kohima Press Club (KPC) and was the founding member of the KPC, formed in 2001 where he served as the club’s treasurer for two terms in 2001-2003 and 2005-2007.
