Dimapur, February 14: Ex-MLA and former member of Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC), Trinimong Sangtam passed away Friday at Tuensang. He was 82.
Late Trinimong Sangtam was born at Alisopur village in 1937 and studied Theology at Eastern Theological College Jorhat. He got his Master of Sacred Theology from Yale University, USA.
He worked as a Lecturer at Eastern Theological College, Jorhat from 1966 to 1976 and later became member of the Regional Council, Tuensang from 1969 to 1972; member of NPSC from 1980 to 1986. He joined politics and was elected member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly from 52-Longgkhim-Chare constituency in 1987 as an Independent candidate.
CM, others condole
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has expressed grief at the demise of Trinimong Sangtam, former MLA and former member of Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) today at Tuensang, saying his death is a great loss to the people of Nagaland, particularly for the people of Eastern Nagaland, and the void left by his death will be difficult to fill.
“Shri Trinimong Sangtam was a God fearing and learned religious man, who served the people with sincerity and devotion in various capacities,” he said.
The CM conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that God grant them peace of mind and mental strength in their hours of bereavement.
Dy CM: Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton has expressed grief at the demise of former MLA Thrinimong Sangtam, who passed away today at his residence in Tuensang.
Patton said late Thrinimong was a contemporary politician among the Nagas. He was active till 2018 at the Nagaland Legislative Assembly elections.
He was also a member of NPSC and also held several key positions in civil society till the time of his demise.
Stating that his demise is not only a huge loss to the Sangtam community but to the Nagas in general, Patton, on behalf of the BLP leaders conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.
NLA: Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker, Sharingain Longkumer has expressed grief at the demise of Thrinimong Sangtam, ex-MLA who passed away on February 14 at Tuensang.
“Late Thrinimong Sangtam was a Theologian and a devoted man who worked wholeheartedly for the welfare and development of his constituency and for the people of Nagaland. His death has caused a great loss to the Nagas in general and the Sangtam community in particular and the void created by him will be difficult to fill,” he said.
The NLA conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that the departed soul rest in eternal peace.
NDPP: The NDPP has expressed grief at the demise of ex-MLA Thrinimong Sangtam Friday morning at Tuensang, saying his contributions to the society shall be remembered by generations to come.
“He possessed a pleasing personality and was an upright person; and his services have been utilized by the Government, Church and society in various capacities and he performed and executed his duties with utter diligence, determination and commitment,” said NDPP president Chingwang Konyak.
The rank and file of NDPP conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
