NEW DELHI, NOVEMBER 27: It would be erroneous to say that there will be bloodshed if ‘100%’ agreement or consensus is not built up on the much awaited solution to the Naga problem, say those in the know of things at Delhi.
Sources said peace emissary AK Mishra is having marathon rounds of meetings with both the NSCN-IM and NNPGs’ delegations separately.
“These meetings are going on for the last few weeks and critical discussions took place in the last two days”, a source said here.
“Everyone appreciates the hunger for lasting peace”, it said.
While more interaction is on cards, from the Government of India point of view time is running out as the “entire region and the Naga people are looking for a solution”.
Answering questions, sources say it may be possible that some issues and points in the discussions at the negotiations table are being repeated.
“But what is important is that there is forward movement as both sides, including the Government of India, is making certain things clear. It will be therefore erroneous to say that only the NNPGs or a few NGOs want Solution. The fact of the matter is entire Naga people and the society wants it”, the source said.
With Flag; the Government has open mind on its use for cultural programmes while other matters are not negotiable.
“Let us keep hoping…let us keep hoping for a purposeful and peaceful Christmas season”, the informed source maintained.
To a question, those in the know say “while some of your queries can be hypothetical…but it is erroneous to spread rumours that unless X Y Z comes on board there will be bloodshed. The State authorities are capable of handling the law and order issues.”
The Winter Session of Parliament is beginning on December 7 hence the Centre is preparing its ground well to handle Nagaland matters effectively in both the Houses of Parliament.
