Dimapur, June 4: The Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) has appealed to the Chief Medical Officer of all districts in the State to facilitate NACP centers and workers during COVID-19 programme following guidelines.
In a letter to the all districts CMOs, NSACS project director, Dr K Vikato Kinimi said following various advisories/orders and SOP issued from time to time by the Government/Department of Health & Family Welfare, personnel of NSACS working in various districts/facilities are also engaged in the active COVID-19 related activities as frontline workers. At the same time, District Hospitals being designated as COVID-19 Hospitals, some NSACS facilities attached to hospitals are also relocated.
In order to provide uninterrupted quality services related to HIV&AIDS, Dr Vikato said it is critical that the facilities continue to be fully functional with trained manpower in place.
In this regard, he requested the District Health Authorities to consider relocation of centers, if need arises, to be considered with alternative arrangements/provisions; at least one or two HIV and AIDS trained personnel to be on duty at ART and OST as treatment adherence and maintaining client confidentiality is very important; and all such contractual employees trained on COVID-19 are given certificate with other trainees. The contractual employees trained on active COVID-19 duty as frontline workers are officially drafted within the procedural advisory and provisions being assured for all COVID-19 health workers, he suggested.
