ENLU meets NITI Aayog on development  of Eastern Nagaland

Dimapur, November 16: The Eastern Nagaland Legislatures’ Union (ENLU) on Friday met the vice chairman and officials of NITI Aayog in regard to the development of Eastern Nagaland region.
The team apprised the NITI Aayog of the commitment made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for development of Eastern Nagaland region, and for which certain select areas were focussed for submission of project proposals such as education, road connectivity, health, tourism and Agri & Allied sectors.
The vice chairman of NITI Aayog assured that the proposals will be looked into with all earnest and taken up as per the feasibility reports from the concerned Ministries. He was appreciative of the fact that the ENLU had taken the pains and efforts to bring forth the detailed proposals.
In the morning, the team also met Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and apprised him of the urgent need to modernize and upgrade the Village Guards in the State, which is a unique force in its structure and duties as compared to other parts of the country.
The Minister stated that the proposal of the State Government is under serious consideration by the Government of India.
The ENLU team was led by convenor, S. Pangnyu Phom, Minister for Health & Family Welfare and ENLU secretary general Toshi Wungtung, Advisor IPR, SCERT & VG, along with Bongkhao Konyak, Advisor DUDA, H. Haiying, Advisor, Prisons and Printing & Stationery, CL John, MLA and officials of DUDA. (Page News Service)
