Dimapur, January 21: An English daily, “Mokokchung Times” published from Mokokchung was launched at a simple ceremony at Ongpangkong Salang, Mokokchung.
Geographically focused on Mokokchung, the hyperlocal newspaper with Limalenden Longkumer as its editor was formally launched with a dedicatory prayer pronounced by Rev. Ponen Longchar, pastor of Mokokchung Town Baptist Church in the presence of friends, family members, guests and well-wishers.
Limalenden Longkumer, Editor, Mokokchung Times, while giving an overview and introduction of the paper, said that the newspaper shall uphold the spirit of ethical journalism. He stated that with a big vision, Mokokchung Times will strive to be the voice of the people of Mokokchung and to stand for truth.
Sashimeren Jamir, Secretary, Mokokchung Press Club congratulated the editor and his team for creating history by publishing the first hyper local English daily.
He encouraged the team to work towards changing the mindsets of the people through the paper and also added that it is a people’s paper and that it needs the support of the people to thrive further.
Mokokchung Times will be available for subscription and home delivery from next month.
