Elephant kills man at Changki

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 27: One person was killed after being attacked by an elephant at Changki Village area in Mokokchung District on the night of August 26.
Sources said that the victim, 43-year-old Wadanglemba, was among a group of villagers that went to chase off a herd of wild elephants spotted in a forested area near the village’s paddy fields.
At being fired upon, the elephant retaliated and trampled on the victim, killing him instantly. Villagers retrieved the corpse late on Saturday night.
Another person was also injured in the incident ~ his left leg trampled by the elephant. Sources said that he was taken for medical treatment to Mariani in Assam.
