
Dimapur, February 10: The Department of Power observed “Electrical Safety Week” from February 6 to 11 on the theme “Safety by choice not by chance”. The program was mandatorily conducted across the State for the safety and security of line personals and public at large.
In commemoration of Safety Week, Dimapur Electrical Division conducted pamphlets carrying messages on causes of electrical shocks, IE Act for mandatory clearance between live conductor from building and ground, Do’s & Don’ts with electrical appliances were distributed to every consumers in all revenue cash counters – 2000 numbers.
An official programme was held in the Division wherein importance to follow Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) was explained to all operation and maintenance staff of the Division. SOP booklets were also distributed to every staffs. Live demo on how to fix and utilize electrical safety gears were also carried out.
Instruction/checklist for giving shutdown and recharging lines were installed in control rooms of all 66/33 kV and 33/11 kV Substations and fuse call rooms. Team of officers also visited every Control Rooms. Proper briefing and SOP booklet were distributed to all staffs.
Meanwhile the Division has appealed to all responsible citizens and working staffs of Dimapur District to follow laid down rules to avoid unwanted electrical accidents.
