Dimapur, May 3: The Election Commission of India has notified that the bye-election to the Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency will be conducted on May 28 (Monday) between 7 am and 4 pm.
The nomination papers may be delivered by a candidate or by any of his proposers to the Commissioner, Nagaland and Returning Officer or to Limanenla, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Headquarter, Office of the Commissioner, Nagaland and Assistant Returning Officer, on the first floor in the conference hall of the Commissioner office, Nagaland between 11 am and 3 pm on any day (other than public holiday) not later than May 10 (Thursday). Forms of nomination paper may be obtained at the place and time aforesaid.
The nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny at the office of the Commissioner on May 11 (Friday) at 11 am. Notice of withdrawal of candidature may be delivered either by a candidate or by any of his proposers or by his election agent who has been authorized in writing by the candidate to deliver it to either of the mentioned officers specified above at his office before 3 pm on May 14 (Monday).

Meanwhile CEO Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha has delegated all Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer and Additional Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Pughoboto to act on behalf of the State Government for requisitioning of vehicles, premises, etc. for the conduct of bye-election to the Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency, 2018.
Any vehicle, premises etc. belonging to private person or institution/organization shall be entitled for compensation under Sec. 161 of the R.P.Act 1951, the CEO said.
Police personnel designated
The Governor of Nagaland has designated all officers and ranks of Nagaland Police from DGP down to constable, including Home Guard, as election related officials for the purpose of Section 28A of the Representation of People Act 1951, with immediate effect till the completion of the bye-election to Lok Sabha from Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency, 2018.
The police official as stated above who are involved in any way in election related arrangements and perform duties in connection with the conduct of the bye-election to Lok Sabha from Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency, 2018 are by law, officers of Election Commission, being deemed to be on deputation to it, and are subject to its control, superintendence and discipline and as such are answerable to the Election Commission for any acts of commission or omission on their part while performing any election related duties.
