ECC holds workshop on archaeology & pottery

Dimapur, April 13: Department of History, Eastern Christian College, Padumpukhuri, Dimapur hosted a one-day workshop aimed at introducing the students to the fascinating realms of archaeology and the significance of pottery within this field on April 12.
A press release stated that the first session commenced with an insightful presentation by Dr Aokumla Walling, Assistant Professor of History and Archaeology at Nagaland University, Meriema Campus, Kohima, who presented a comprehensive overview of archaeology as a discipline and delved into the various archaeological methodologies, excavation techniques and the importance of oral traditions.
Following the introductory session, Dr. R Chumbeno Ngullie, Assistant Professor of History and Archaeology at Nagaland University, Meriema Campus, Kohima, an expert in pottery analysis, elucidated the pivotal role of pottery in archaeological research.
Through engaging discussions and practical demonstrations, students learned how pottery can unveil invaluable information about our ancient societies. The workshop also featured hands-on activities allowing the students to examine authentic pottery fragments and learn basic identification techniques.
