DYRS conducts oral health camp for IGSAK students

Kohima, May 26: The Directorate of Youth Resources and Sports today conducted Oral Health Camp cum Awareness Programme for athletes in Indira Gandhi Sports Academy Kohima.
The camp was conducted in collaboration with Kekhro Smile Foundation along with Nagaland Institute of Science and Technology.
Speaking on the occasion, Director of YRS Kethosituo Sekhose said during a recent health camp, it was detected the many of the students in IGSAK were suffering from different oral health issues leading to diseases and therefore the department decided to conduct the awareness programme for the benefit of young budding athletes.
He informed that IGSAK has 146 student athletes studying in schools and colleges and undergoing training in different sporting discipline but do not have easy access to health care and are facing different health issues.
Stressing on the importance of dental health, he encouraged athletes to brush their teeth at least twice a day and take proper dental care.
Founding member of Kekhro Smile Foundation, Dr Pfukrolo Koza shared on the importance of oral health both for common people as well as athletes.
The programme was chaired by Additional Director YRS Megolhu Dolie while team of doctors conducted free oral health checkup for the athletes.
