Dimapur, July 8: The meeting of the Tuensang District Task Force (DTF) for COVID-19 was held on July 8 in the DC’s conference hall.
DC Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant IAS briefed the house on the BSL-2 laboratory, which is currently being set up at COVID-19 Hospital, Tuensang. The DC apprised the house on the need to hasten the completion of the BSL-2 laboratory.
The house deliberated on the issue of one BSL-2 laboratory technician who was tested positive for COVID-19 on July 7. The technician is currently admitted to COVID Care Centre, Tuensang for isolation and all his contacts have been quarantined and further test are ongoing.
The house discussed the fire at Loyem ground on July 6, which burned some traditional morungs being used as kitchen to prepare food for the quarantine centres. The house agreed to reconstruct the morungs at the earliest.
The house also agreed to strengthen awareness campaign on COVID-19 in the wards/colonies to spread safe practices such as wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining social distancing and also to spread awareness against discrimination/harassment of front line workers and returnees.
