DTF meet on MR campaign held in districts

Dimapur, July 9: Deputy Commissioner, Sachin Jaiswal, IAS convened a meeting of District Task Force in the conference hall of ADC Planning, Mokokchung on July 7 and discussed matters relating to Measles-Rubella vaccine campaign in the District which will be started from October 3.
Measles-Rubella (MR) campaign will be launched on October 3 for the entire state of Nagaland. During the campaign, children up to 15 years will be vaccinated, he said.
During the meeting, District Programme Officer RCH-UIP, Dr. Temsuyanger highlighted about the campaign and said that it is aimed to build up immunity for both measles and rubella diseases and prevent the diseases in the community. Children aged between nine months to 15 years are to be vaccinated during the campaign. He said that the vaccine should be taken regardless of their previous vaccination status as this dose given in the campaign is a supplementary dose which is a safe and an effective vaccine for elimination of the disease.
The meeting also discussed and made preparatory plans and programmes for the campaign D-day with a minimum 95% of the target age group to be vaccinated.
Dr. Abishek WHO RRT who also attended the meeting as an observer and representative on the campaign also gave his advice, views and the importance on the success of the campaign.
Longleng: District planning workshop for Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign was held in the conference hall of CMO office, Longleng on July 9 with ADC Longleng, Temsuwati as the special guest.
Temsuwati said that providing vaccination is not a new topic for the medical professionals who are well trained for that purpose. However, in order to ensure cent percent coverage of the MR vaccine to all the children from 9 months to 15 years of age in the district he appealed to the gathering medical workers to discharge their assigned duty with utmost sincerity and responsibility.
Deliberating on the objectives of the workshop, Dr. S. Imnameren DIO Longleng said that the purpose of the district level workshop was to train all the doctors, nurses, ANM/supervisors and health workers to impart the same training at the block & village levels and health centers to mobilize and supervise the MR vaccination campaign as scheduled.
Dr. Shankar Reddy RRT (WHO), Egum Project officer UNDP, Taula RBSK coordinator, Dr. Baungam TOT and Dr Imnameren DIO were the resource persons of the program.
Peren: District Task Force committee meeting was held on July 9 in the DC’s conference hall, New DC Complex, Peren to discuss matter regarding Measles-Rubella campaign in the District.
Chairing the meeting, DC Peren, S.Tainiu lauded the noble initiative taken up by the Government of India to create awareness to the public for the success of the programme.
Deputy CMO, Dr. Supongmenla and DPO (RCH+UIP), Dr. Nukshisangla shared all the plans and targeted areas and how it should be covered during MR vaccination programme. In their address they mentioned the important departments, churches, NGO’s, army school and public cooperation for successful outcome of the MR campaign. They emphasized that not a single children between 9 months to 15 years should be left out of immunization programme.
