DTCC Tuensang conducts awareness to promote ‘Tobacco free village’

Dimapur, June 25: As per the directives of the Health & Family Welfare Kohima, the District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC) Tuensang, under the National Tobacco Programme (NTCP) conducted the awareness programme to prioritize promotion of ‘Tobacco Free Village’ on June 22 and 24.
The activities were carried out in three villages, Chingmelen, Kuthur and Tuensang villages.
During the programme, District Consultant (DTCC) Tuensang, Sentilong Longchar imparted on the importance of the ban on sale and consumption of pan, gutkha and other tobacco products and spitting in public places as a preventive measure to contain the spread of Covid-19 infection.
He also advocated to the Village Council Chairmans, Council members and GBs on the danger of Tobacco abuse amongst the youth and to empower them to take ownership of Tobacco control in their village and to strive towards making their village a ‘’Tobacco free villages’’.
DTCC, Tuensang also carried out the other activities in the District like Poster Campaign on Tobacco use and Covid-19 were pasted at different Quarantine Centres, UPHC, ATM Booths, District Hospital and other various strategic points in the Town. (Page News Service)
