Kohima, February 17: A book on Effectiveness of District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET) in Nagaland authored by Dr Imkongsenla Longchar was released today by State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Director, Chumchanbeni Kikon at SCERT Conference Hall here.
Speaking on the occasion, Kikon said DIET was envisioned in 1986 to strengthen elementary education and decentralization of education to the district.
Saying that DIETs are structured with a main function to train pre-service prospective teachers and also in-service teachers, she said Nagaland has eight DIETs offering various courses to the teachers.
She said DIETs are the heads and legs of SCERT specially with the institution of National Education Policy 2020 which focuses on revitalization of teachers education.
The SCERT Director expressed hope that the book will be a great resource and help to overcome the challenges of elementary education in the State.
It would also be very beneficial for all the teacher educators and readers, said Kikon.
The author Dr Imkongsenla Longchar said the book is an extension of her Ph D research works and expressed hope it would be a help for teacher education in general.
