Dimapur, September 23: The monthly meeting of the Mokokchung District Planning &Development Board was held on September 22 at NIC conference hall Mokokchung under the chairmanship of Speaker, NLA & Chairman DPDB Mokokchung, Sharaingin Lonkumer. For the first of its kind and due to pandemic the meeting was held through video conference.
The members present were Tongpang Ozukum, Minister Technical & Housing, Imnatiba, Advisor Industries & Commerce NIDC, Imkong L Imchen, MLA, Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, SP Mokokchung, administrative officers, District HoDs and members from civil organizations.
On the agendas, the DPDB approved the LADP schemes for the current year 2020-21 for all the 10 constituencies under Mokokchung. The house also approved new society registration of Mokokchung Law College.
After thorough discussion and deliberation, the house approved in principle the registration and establishment of Nagaland Mahatma Gandhi University at Chuchuyimlang.
The Ashram is currently running an institute named Mahatma Gandhi Academy Human Development (MGAHD) in collaboration with Tata Institute of Social Science, Mumbai and with financial support from the Hans Foundation, New Delhi. According to Dr Aotoshi, managing trustee of the Ashram, who meet the presentation to the DPDB, the proposed University once registered will establish other institute of higher learning in addition to the existing college of social work.
Speaker & chairman DPDB expressed appreciation and gratitude to the District administration, police, District Task Force (DTF), HoDs and civil societies for the commendable task in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The elected Legislators also expressed their appreciation on the same lines.
