DC John Tsulise Sangtam informed the members that poor performance of the students in HSLC & HSSLC was due to lack of quality education at the primary level. He also spoke on misuse of Mid-day Meal Scheme and other schemes for development of the schools by the VECs. He urged the officers to visit Schools whenever they visit any village for official duty. He said that adoption of schools by the officers will be beneficial not only to the schools and students alone but also for teachers and officers concern to be active in their performance.
DEO Longleng enumerated the numbers of GPS and GMS in the district and also shared the pathetic condition of some schools and students at the village level. She also highlighted the performance of the GHSS and GHSs in the HSSLC & HSLC Exam 2019.
The members while supporting the agenda as a noble gesture to assist the schools in their own capacity and give feedback to the authority for improvement of the schools decided to approve the agenda to adopting GPS & GMS by the respective members of the DPDB. After a lengthy deliberation, a 6 member sub-committee headed by ADC Longleng as chairman was constituted to prepare guidelines for school adoption by officers and will submit the detail report in the next meeting. The other members of the committee are: SDO (Civil), DEO, SDEO, BDO Sakshi and CDPO Longleng. The adoption of schools will start after the summer break.
