DoSE clarifies on exam fee for recruitment of LDA

Dimapur, March 2: The Department of School Education today clarified that the exam fee for the recruitment of LDA cum Computer Assistant has been fixed as Rs 400 by the Departmental Recruitment Board after considering all necessary expenditures expected to incur during the entire process and not fixed arbitrarily by the Department.
In a clarification issued by the Department, Director of School Education, Wonthungo Tsopoe stated that the Department could have decided to conduct the examination only at Kohima, but for the convenience of candidates from remote areas, it was decided to conduct the exam at each district head quarter.
People having basic knowledge of cost of materials and rates of remunerations to be paid to various officials related to the conduct of exam can estimate the cost of conducting the exam at all district head quarters, he said.
He further stated that the department has already incurred expenses for making available the facility of online submission of applications for the convenience of the candidates.
On the assumption of 6000 to 8000 candidates applying for the exam, the Director said it is absurd as around 1500 candidates only have applied for the posts till March 2.
He also said comparing the exam fee fixed by different departments is logically not acceptable as the funding pattern for conduct of recruitment exams differ from one department to another department.
In case of the Department of School Education, the Director said all expenses related to the conduct of the recruitment exam needs to be managed from the fee collected from applicants.
The department tries its best to ease the burden of candidates at each stage and generating revenue from the recruitment exam is not the intention of the department as claimed, he said.
In regards to apprehension raised regarding ‘Quota system’, the Department reiterated that the recruitment process has been undertaken in a transparent manner strictly following the established rules and regulations and all concerned are assured of conduct of impartial and fair recruitment.
