DoPN inform power consumers

Dimapur, August 28: The State Department of Power has informed that with the imposition of COVID-19 lockdown measures/restrictions since March 24, the department is facing huge challenges for its staff to carry out routine monthly revenue activity of meter reading, billing, bill delivery and collection. This has adversely affected DoPN revenue collections resulting in huge drainage of the State’s exchequer resources to purchase adequate/required power.
Engineer-in-chief, DoPN, Er. Shikato Sema said if the present trend continues further, it will not be in a position to supply adequate/required power supply and there shall be long hauls of power cuts/outages. Sensing the urgency of the matter, and in the interest of providing better service to the consumers/citizens of the State, the Government has directed the department to ensure dissemination of billing information and enable online viewing & payment of bills in towns/areas covered under IT billing & online payment facility, and any consumers not receiving bills from the department must provide his/her consumer 1D/No. along with mobile contact number including the location to the concerned billing office or to the following contact details in head office Kohima: EE (Rev), office of the E-n-C Kohima – 9436602054; EE (MIS) Dimapur – 8257925964; SDO (Rev)- 9774566578; JE (Rev) – 8974695047 or,
In colonies/wards/villages wherever COVID-19 lockdown restrictions are in place, the DoPN officers & staff shall co-ordinate with the respective colonies/wards/ villages councils to facilitate meter reading and bill delivery. The activities shall be completed within August 2020.
The DoPN assisted by the police and administration shall carry out extensive disconnection exercise of payment defaulters (consumers/localities/villages) from Sept/Oct 2020 without further information, it informed. (Page News Service)
