DIMAPUR, MARCH 9: The Nagaland Cabinet has re-named the Planning & Coordination Department as Planning & Transformation Department in a meeting held on March 7 last.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary briefed the Cabinet on the need to re-orient the focus and work profile of the Planning & Co-ordination Department in view of the many changes that have come about in the developmental and planning domain in the past years.
He mentioned as an example the revamping of Planning Commission in the Central Government, which has been re-named as NITI Aayog, with NITI standing for National Institution for Transforming India, and said that on similar lines it would be advisable to consider re-naming the Planning & Coordination Department as Planning & Transformation Department.
The Cabinet after discussions approved for re-naming the existing Planning & Co-ordination Department to that of Planning and Transformation Department.
The Cabinet further directed P&AR Department to carry out the necessary amendment in the Nagaland Rules of Executive Business to give effect to its decision in regard to the Department.
