Don’t let your vote go  waste: Governor

Dimapur, April 10: Nagaland Governor PB Acharya has appealed to all voters in the State, especially first-time voters who are above 18 years to participate in the biggest festival of democracy in the world by going out and casting their vote.
“Do not let your vote go waste. Vote is right and duty,” he said in an appeal issued on the eve of Lok Sabha poll in the State.
“In a democracy the elections play the most important role in shaping the destiny by the people and for the people, while exercising their right to franchise. It constitutes the real source of power in the elections as they make their choice and elect only those in whom they have faith. In democracy, voting is your sacred right,” he said.
The Governor stated that voters’ participation in the democratic and electoral processes is integral to the successful running of any democracy and the very basis of wholesome democratic elections.
Stating that the electoral process is one of the major unifying activities for the Indian citizens, the Governor said India’s Constitution has laid out the aspiration that every adult Indian regardless of gender, formal education, socio economic status or location would have a right to vote and every vote would count the same.
“Hence, every citizen must ensure that he or she cast vote, as he or she is the one who make the decision of having a good and clean Government. Every vote counts and can make a difference in taking the country to a road of development,” he added. (Page News Service)
