DoNER Secretary visits Chuchuyimlang


Dimapur, August 13: Secretary, Ministry of DoNER, Government of India, Naveen Verma, IAS visited Nagaland Gandhi Ashram and its learning institutes: Mahatma Gandhi Academy of Human Development (MGAHD) and National Institute of E- Learning & Information Technology (NIELIT).
At NIELIT, the Secretary inaugurated a smart classroom which is equipped with better electronic facilities for teaching and learning. After which he interacted with the students. During the interaction, Verma advised the students to be sincere in learning and have a clear direction in their career.
He also visited the new administrative and hostel buildings which is under construction, and also surveyed the new proposed Ashram site which is a 332 acre-land donated by Chuchuyimlang village.
At Mahatma Gandhi Academy of Human Development, which is a joint initiative of TATA Institute of Social Science & National Gandhi Ashram sponsored by HANs Foundation, he interacted with students and faculty members and said that each must have nodal plan for life not only to survive oneself but also to help the society. He also shared programmes and schemes of the government for the development of the Northeast states.
At Chuchuyimlang village, a public reception in honour of Naveen Verma was accorded at Anumai Amphitheatre. Speaking at the programme, he thanked the village for the donating land to the Ashram for its development.
Short speeches were delivered by Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Sachin Jaiswal and Natwar Thakkar, Founder Nagaland Gandhi Ashram, Chuchuyimlang.
Natwar Takkar who founded the Nagaland Gandhi Ashram Chuchuyimlang in the year 1955 recounted the history and shared fond memories of the Ashram.
Earlier, Naveen Verma also visited ECHAHABA Tea Factory, which manufactures Merangkong brand tea at Tuli and interacted with tea farmers of the co-operative society and members of Merangkong village council. (Page News Service)
