DNSU warns dealers/suppliers selling gutkha/tobacco products

Dimapur, April 29: The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) today said that some dealers are taking undue advantage of the lockdown in the state by selling gutkha and other tobacco products at a very exorbitant rate at their whims and wishes.
It stated that Gutkha/tobacco are not essential commodities and that selling of gutkhas itself is strictly prohibited as per the directive of the Central Government during the lockdown.
The DNSU expressed surprise that those dealers stationed at Marwaripatti areas, which has been sealed and declared as quarantine zone by the District Administration, are supplying gutkhas and tobacco products.
The Union said that it has caught some retailers/wholesalers outside the zone who have admitted the same on enquiry that they are getting the items from inside the quarantine area.
The DNSU warned those dealers/suppliers/retailers to abstain from such activities.
Meanwhile, the Union appealed to the District Administration and police personnel on duty to strictly monitor such activities. On failure to take corrective measures, the DNSU would be compelled to take its own course of action as deemed fit and proper, it stated. (Page News Service)
