Dimapur, November 19: The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has submitted its school touring report to the school education department and requested to set up a committee to look into the issues on or before January 18, 2020.
In a press release, Tenyebinlo Himb, secretary, Education & Statistics of DNSU credited the success of the school tour to his colleagues for their tireless help who worked for about 6 months against all odds.
On November 18, the report was submitted to the education department in the presence of Principal Director and issues were discussed regarding the report. The tour focused mostly on government schools as they require more attention than private schools.
The union listed grievances such as proxy teachers, shortage of subject teachers, renovation & extension of classrooms, proper implementation of Mid-Day Meal scheme, requirement of Grade IV & ministerial staffs, to provide water (especially drinking water), to provide fans & lights, inadequate supply of uniforms & textbooks, need for more upgradations of schools, flood prone schools and other issues.
DNSU requested the department to intervene for necessary action with utmost priority such as full and quality implementation of components under Samagra Shiksha, erstwhile SSA/RMSA, proper implementation of RTE Act 2009, clear demarcation of school area by erecting boundary wall to avoid land encroachment, introduction of biometric attendance, rationalization of teachers and others.
