DNSU issues reminder on tuition fees

Dimapur, August 4: The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has again issued reminder on tuition fees and hostel registration.
In a press release, DNSU reaffirmed the stand taken on May 31, 2019 along with its constituent units after detailed consultation with teachers, students and parents, that the teachers should accommodate maximum seven students per batch for five days in a week for tuition (fees will be Rs 500 per student for Class A to 10 and Rs 800 for Class 11&12); while for home tuition, minimum days for tuition is set at three days with maximum three students per batch (Rs 2500 for Cl A to 10 and Rs 3500 for Cl 11&12).
DNSU said tuition fees for math, science, and Hindi will be charged per subject for Class 9&10, and Class A-8 will fall under general category, while fees for science and commerce stream will be charged per subjects and arts stream will fall under general category. Under general category, fees will be charged for all combined subjects and not per subject.
Meanwhile citing complaints from parents and students regarding poor conditions of hostels/PGs the city, DNSU said some hostels/PGs were running without proper facilities and infrastructure. It cautioned the proprietors to run separate hostels and wardens for boys and girls and made it mandatory for the hostels to keep a warden.
The student body also appealed the proprietors to consider the mess fees for holiday period while maintaining that 90% were running without proper registration and failing to comply with the rules set by the concerned department.
The DNSU informed the proprietors of Dimapur based hostels and PGs to get registered from the Government and obtain No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the DNSU office on or before August 21, after which DNSU officials will conduct surprise checking and cautioned that if the hostels/PGs fail to comply with the department’s set rules, the matter will be handed over to police or the concerned authority for immediate action.
