DNSU general conference held


Dimapur, October 12: The Diphupar Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) celebrated its 24th biennial general conference on the theme “Exploring alternatives” on October 12 at local ground Diphupar village, with special invitee Dr Neikiesalie Nicky Kire, Advisor, Rural Development, unfurling the union flag and unveiling the 2nd edition of DNSU biennial journal.
Speaking on the theme, Dr Nicky focused on environmental responsibility and advised to take the pledge to plant 10 saplings in each homes. He pointed out that the climatic condition has changed due to our lapses in taking care of our environment.
The special invitee also urged the students to maintain dignity of labour and preserve the Naga identity.
The programme was chaired by Zuthungbemo K Ngullie and welcome address delivered by Aaron Assumi, convenor, organizing committee. Presidential note was delivered by Kumlamo Patton, DNSU president.
An awareness campaign on “Clean and Green: My environment, my responsibility” was also held with resource person Er Aghali S Swu, Assistant Environment Engineer, Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB). A pledge and signature campaign was initiated by all the delegation present.
Meanwhile the DNSU has elected a new team of office bearers on October 10 for the tenure 2018-2020 headed by President Pitovi Achumi & Grizel A Ngullie as general secretary. (Page News Service)
