Dimapur, September 13: The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) today urged the Government to be more responsible and not rely upon the general public to meet the state’s financial exigencies at this crucial point of time while expressing concern over Covid-19 cess on Petrol and Diesel. It called upon the government to revoke the hike.
In a press release, the Union said in recent times keeping the extraordinary situation in mind, the expenditure for transportation and other essential commodities in both urban and rural areas have been abnormally augmented, and hence the public has been adversely affected and economically exhausted in every aspect of life.
The DNSU reminded the Government that business establishments are now back in full operation also and the government is receiving enough funds from the Central Government to cub the Covid-19 pandemic, as such it is not necessary any longer to continue with the cess on petrol and diesel.
Urging the government to revoke the Covid-19 cess on fuel immediately, the Union warned that on failure of the government, it would be compelled to stage protest as deem fit.
It also urged the civil societies to join hands with the cause towards the genuine issue, to revoke the Covid-19 cess levied on the general public. (Page News Service)
