Dimapur, June 22: The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) and the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) have expressed serious concern over the threat of illegal immigrants taking over the Naga market and resolved to strongly fight against the influx of illegal immigrants by extending unflinching support to the Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigrants (JCPI) and the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF).
In a consultative meeting, the two unions appealed to Naga indigenous inhabitants not to practice benami business transaction with non-locals (which is a punishable offence under the law), particularly within Dimapur district, as it has drastically affected the Naga economy and also encourages influx of illegal immigrants.
Considering the unwanted situations that has confronted the Naga society due to selfish vested interest individuals, the DNSU and ANCSU said it will strictly monitor such ill practices affecting the future of the Nagas.
The two unions also called on the State Government to have serious approach towards the issues raised by the two unions on various occasions.
It also appealed to students not to indulge in any immoral activities, saying it will be vigilant to prevent such practices that may tarnish the image of the students community.
At the same time, the DNSU and ANCSU warned that it will retaliate to any authority/groups/individuals whose act may hamper the interest of students and the society. (Page News Service)
